WEEK 5 - Building a Cyanoacrylate Fuming Chamber

This week I focused on creating the cyanoacrylate fuming chamber so I can start trials next week. To build the chamber, I went to Home Depot and got a plastic container with a lid and velcro. I used velcro to like the edges of the container and cover so the "chamber" could be as airtight as possible.

I went ahead and tested the chamber with nothing inside to make sure that it was airtight. To create the cyanoacrylate fumes, I used super glue containing cyanoacrylate, tin foil cupcake liners, and a candle warmer. I put the superglue inside the tinfoil cupcake liner and placed it inside the chamber. Once the chamber had been sealed, I placed the chamber on top of the candle warmer. I successfully created the fumes needed for trials.
